THOUGH THE UNITED STATES AND THE PEOPLES REPUBLIC OF CHINA SHARES THE TOP OF THE TABLE WITH TOTAL 18 GOLDS BUT LEAD IN THE TOTAL NUMBER OF MEDALS KEEP CHINA ON TOP OF THE TABLE. THE GREAT BRITAIN MOVES STRAIGHT UP AT THE 5TH POSITION WITH TOTAL OF 15 MEDALS.

JAPAN’S KOHEI UCHIMURA WON THE INDIVIDUAL ALL AROUND GOLD AT THE NORTH GREENWICH ARENA. IT WAS A DISAPPOINTING DAY FOR INDIA LOSING THE MEN’S HOCKEY COMPETITION AGAINST THE NEW ZEALAND WHILE AUSTRALIA RECORDED A VICTORY AT THE SAME DAY.

JAPAN’S SAYAKA SATO LEFT THE WOMEN’S SINGLES BADMINTON MATCH DUE TO INJURY. SHE TRIED HARD TO CONTINUE EVEN AFTER HAVING A HEAVY TREATMENT AFTER GETTING INJURED BUT SHE FOUND IT TO DIFFICULT TO PLAY AND FORCED TO WITHDRAW HERSELF FROM THE MATCH.
